Preparing your home to look as clean, modern, and inviting as possible, is a great strategy to increase interest in your home. It’s not always necessary to repaint though. Here are some guidelines.

Repaint if:

  • You have a different colour in every room (or almost). The change in colour from one room to the next can make the home seem smaller.
  • You have a colour that is very dark or very bold, like black, red, peacock blue, or orange. Dark colours also make a space appear smaller, and people have colours that the just don’t like, so an orange living room or bright blue bathroom, for example, could put them off.
  • The paint is discoloured, patchy, or is otherwise in disrepair.

If you do repaint, choose a neutral colour such as beige, and use it throughout the home. This will give the home a more open and spacious feel, and won’t clash with a potential buyer’s furnishing.

Would you like me to have a look and give you some advice? I’d be happy to do that for you. Just give me a call at 604-832-6494.
